• Please sanitize your hands prior to entry. Feel free to bring your own sanitizer if you prefer.
  • Once it is your turn for entry, step forward and swipe your membership key fob. You will not be able to enter the club without your fob. If you lost your FOB or need a replacement, please stay tuned for our membership day prior to opening, when you can stop by and pick up a new one from a table outside the club.
  • Tell the office worker which pod/seating area you would like to sit at. They will then reserve this for you during your time at the club.
  • Proceed to your designated location and set up for the day. Although the chairs and umbrella stands will be sanitized between patrons, feel free to bring your own cleaning supplies for extra safety.

Swim Team/Swim Lessons
  • Swim/Dive Team and Swim Lessons will not begin when we open. <![CDATA[The Latest Updates Regarding Covid-19 and the 2020 Season]]>Sun, 26 Apr 2020 04:00:00 GMThttp://nnjsc.org/announcements/the-latest-updates-regarding-covid-19-and-the-2020-seasonDear Norwood Whalers Pool Community,
We hope that this communication finds you and your loved ones safe and well at home. At this time, we are writing to provide the latest updates on the summer of 2020. We have been closely following the updates from the World Health Organization, Center for Disease Control, New Jersey Pool Managers Association, as well as State and Local Government. At this time, there is still a large amount of uncertainty as to what the 2020 swim season and summer look like. With that being said, we are committed to continuing to work towards a 2020 season, although we realize it will likely be altered by Covid-19 in one way or another.
We will continue to offer the $100 discount and preferred membership until our extended deadline of next Friday May 1st. As a reminder, to secure membership, you must both sign up and pay for the 2020 season by this Friday. Returning members can still sign up after May 1st, but will not be eligible for the $100 discount or guaranteed membership if we reach our maximum capacity again this year. On May 2nd, pool membership will be opened to the general public. New members will have until Saturday May 16th (the date of our virtual open house – more details to follow) to sign up for the 2020 Season.
We have completed a thorough review of our financials, and are able to present you with the following scenarios for this summer. Please keep in mind, that there are significant static costs for maintaining the pool no matter what happens this summer.

Opening as of Monday, June 1st
  • No Changes to Membership Dues
Opening as of Wednesday, July 1st
  • 15% reduction in Membership Dues to be refunded via check
Opening as of Saturday, August 1st
  • 35% reduction in Membership Dues to be refunded via check
Complete closure of club for 2020
  • All membership fees returned except $100 per membership to be applied as a credit to the 2021 season
  • Option to transfer entire 2020 payment to 2021 and lock in 2020 rates for 2021

A large amount of research and number crunching has gone into creating these scenarios for you. Please note that these allow us to maintain the financial stability of our club. Operating the swim club has become more costly than ever due to new personal protective equipment and cleaning standards, a longer season this year due to Labor Day falling on Monday, September 7th, and a significant increase in minimum wage. Our strong membership base will be key for us to move forward through and past this crisis for many years of enjoyment to come.
Thank you in advance for your new level of flexibility, as we work to provide some type of season to all of our members. We will do everything possible to maintain and open our small, private, family oriented club this summer, while keeping within state and local regulations. We are doing our best to plan for all scenarios, so that the club can become operational as soon as conditions allow. Updates will continually be provided via email and social media as they become available. Please make sure you are signed up via Community Pass to receive the latest updates.
Finally, thank you to EVERYONE who is playing a part in keeping us all safe and well during this unprecedented time. We truly appreciate all of your efforts. We cannot wait to see you at the pool sooner rather than later.

Be well - The Board and Management of the Norwood Swim Club]]>
<![CDATA[Open Letter to the Norwood Swim Club Community Regarding Covid-19]]>Sat, 28 Mar 2020 04:00:00 GMThttp://nnjsc.org/announcements/open-letter-to-the-norwood-swim-club-community-regarding-covid-19We are writing to you in what is truly an unprecedented time for our families, our pool club, our towns, our nation, and our world. It is our sincere hope that as you read this email you are someplace safe with the ones you hold dear. With that being said, a number of members and potential members of the club have reached out this week with questions about the 2020 Summer Season, so we wanted to update you with what we know as of this moment, and our plan for moving forward. Please understand, that just like you, and everyone else in this situation, these are only the answers as we know them today, and are subject to change moving forward as the COVID-19 pandemic develops.

  • We are still planning to move forward with the 2020 season at this time. There are New Jersey Pool Manager Association (NJPMA) meetings in April and May (virtually) that will help us to determine possible impact to the season. At this time no options are off the table, but some may include an earlier or later opening date, modified hours, smaller membership totals, limiting number of members allowed at one time, or restricting outside guests.
  • We are committed to providing the safe, small, private pool club experience that Norwood Swim Club is well known for. Safety has always been, and will always be our top priority at the Norwood Swim Club. We will follow all local, state, and federal guidelines in regards to opening and maintaining the club.
  • We will extend the deadline for current members to sign up and pay until May 1st. After that, we will open up additional membership spots for new members. If for any reason you already know you won’t be joining us this year, please email us at nscwhalers@gmail.com so that we can make your spot available to someone on our wait list.
  • At this time, we are not making refunds or pro-rating the season, as we do not yet know what the season will look like. When that time comes, we will communicate to you any reductions or refunds that can be made. Please keep in mind there are some static costs involved in operating the club, which will remain the same no matter how the 2020 Summer Season pans out. Norwood Swim Club operates as a 501-c7, not for profit recreational facility. Each year we need to ensure we do not have more than a limited percentage of our total operating budget remaining at the end of the year. If the season does not proceed as planned, we will do everything within our power to return as much of your membership as we can.

Just like many of you reading this letter right now, we could not have imagined today’s reality a month ago, so we cannot begin to understand what our situation will look like a month from now. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this extremely difficult time for everyone. We are a small group of volunteers, who are working with our Management Team, and local and state authorities to make the best decisions for our club. Your safety and the well being of all of our club members will always be our top priority. We will work to try to provide whatever services we can this summer within those guidelines.
Finally, thank you to all of our club members who are on the front lines of this pandemic. We know there are so many nurses, doctors, medical personal, military, law enforcement, essential store workers, and more who are doing far greater than their fair share in taking care of all of us during this extremely difficult time. We are truly grateful for you, and for everything you are doing for our communities.
Please continue to follow the direction of local and state law officials during this time. The sooner we all work together to limit our contact with one another, the sooner we can see each other at the pool.

Go Whalers! Be well.
